In many communities across Bangladesh, women with disabilities are at a disproportionately high risk of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. DDS addresses this critical issue through its <strong>Women Violence Prevention Program<\/strong>, a targeted initiative focused on protection, empowerment, and justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Purpose and Importance<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Women with disabilities often face dual marginalization\u2014both as females and as persons with disabilities. They may experience abuse within families, institutions, workplaces, or care settings, with limited access to reporting systems or legal support. DDS\u2019s program is designed to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prevent violence through awareness and education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Empower women to speak out and seek help.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build community support and accountability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure access to justice and rehabilitation services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Core Activities<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Awareness Campaigns<\/strong>: Organizing community-based seminars, rallies, and discussions on gender equality, women\u2019s rights, and anti-violence laws.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Legal Aid and Counseling<\/strong>: Partnering with legal aid organizations and providing trauma-informed counseling to survivors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Self-defense and Leadership Training<\/strong>: Equipping women with confidence and skills to protect themselves and lead others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Community Sensitization<\/strong>: Engaging local leaders, police, health workers, teachers, and religious figures to change harmful attitudes and protect vulnerable women.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hotline and Referral Services<\/strong>: Helping victims get immediate support, shelter, or legal intervention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Inclusive Focus<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Special attention is given to the unique vulnerabilities of women with physical, sensory, or intellectual disabilities.
